Karen Altman

Karen Altman is an 8 year veteran school cheerleader. She has coached recreation, recreation competition and all star competition cheerleading squads for a total of 17 years. Karen started the first competitive cheerleading squad for the Hanahan Recreation Department. In the 7 years that her recreation teams competed, they placed in every competition they attended, even winning numerous Grand Championship trophies. Four of the teams she coached are nationally ranked. She coached all star squads from 1996 - 2010. She also coached the Hanahan High School Varsity and Junior Varsity cheerleading squads in the 2007-2008 school year. Karen retired from coaching in 2010 to focus her time and experience as a national competitive all star cheerleading judge in the USA and in Canada.

Karen was the founder & Director / Head Coach for the HCU All Star Hawks. The Junior Co-ed squad was Nationally ranked in both 2002 and 2003 and they won the 2004 USACF National championship. The Mini Novice team, in their first year of existence also won the 2004 USACF National Championship. She has also coached several individual competitors to Regional and National Championships.

Karen is AACCA safety certified, a certified panel and NFHS safety judge for the South Carolina High School League, and is a certified judge having judged for several national and regional organizations (The JamBrands, Epic Brands, Spirit Sports, Cheersport, Cheer America, American Championships, American Cheer Power & The US Finals). She is a trained head / panel judge on the Varsity Score System. Her judging experience also includes local competitions and try outs for all stars and school squads. Karen judges all forms of all star cheerleading, Tiny’s thru Seniors and all levels. She has been actively judging all stars, recreation and school teams for the past 18+ years. She also judges internationally for Cheerleader Classic, Santiago, Chile and in Canada. Karen is a member of the USASF Field Staff for the Southeast and has served on the USASF Regional Advisory Board for cheer. Karen has been an experienced, safety certified judge for the USASF for the last 8 years.

Karen has in the past conducted stunt technique and safety clinics for local high school and recreation departments and has done building skills, tumbling and transitional choreography. She coached with the USASF certified gym, East Coast Elite All Stars, as a cheer and tumbling coach during the 2009-2010 season and as Cheer Director/Administration/Consultant for the Great Atlantic Cheer Company for the 2013-2014 season. Karen also successfully completed the CPR training for the American Heart Association. Karen brings with her a passion for the sport, her convictions of proper progression of skills with each athlete and a deep desire to promote the athleticism and creativity that all star cheerleading has to offer.

She believes that by creating a fun, family atmosphere that the athletes of ACCDTC will thrive and grow not only a competitive members of the sport of all star cheerleading but will also help guide and build them into exemplary members of the community and successful adults after their cheer careers are over.

Jerell A Owens-Robinson | COACH

Jerell A Owens-Robinson

Jerell is an accomplished and energetic Cheer Coach with a solid history of Achievement in All-Star Cheerleading. Jerell’s areas of expertise include coaching, choreography, and skill building.

Jerell has 13 years of cheer experience; he began cheering in middle school and continued on the cheer all four years of high school as a Varsity cheerleader. During high school Jerell began All-Star Cheerleading in his junior year at Elkhart Cheer Stars. After graduating Jerell proceeded to cheer at a D1 college for 5 years, Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW).

Jerell began coaching All-Star cheerleading in the summer of 2008 at World Champion program ICE All-Stars, where he coached for 6 seasons before moving to Florida in summer 2014. While coaching at ICE Jerell coached teams to many regional and national titles from level 1-5. For the last 2 seasons Jerell has been traveling across the country judging for The Jam Brands.
